To being a trace choose where you want to trace from (using the drop down menu) and then enter an IP address or domain into the "to" address box. Once that is complete click the Start button.
The drop down menu will show two options by default, This Server and My Computer. If there are any RTAs running that have been created for the server you are on then these will show to.
By choosing "my computer" and clicking start an RTA will need to be downloaded. Upon pressing start a download link will appear above the applet and a progress bar will being. Simply click the download link and save the RTA to your local machine. When it has downloaded, run the RTA and the trace will begin. The RTA will look like fig 2 below:

Once the route test has finished the applet will display the results, as shown below in fig 3:

The main view is the summary view, as shown above. This breaks down everything in one view. For more detailed views on each aspect of the route test simply click the tabs just above the OmniPath graphic. Each item will then be displayed in its own window.
In the top right hand corner of the applet, just below the start button, there are two further buttons. The one on the left is used to display the route test table in text form. As shown below in fig 4 below. This will allow you to copy and paste the results into an email etc.

The button on the right is used to detach the applet from the web page. To re attach the applet to the web page simply close the detached applet.
To remove the RTA from your machine click the "shut down" button as shown in fig 2 above. This will display a dialog box like the one shown below in fig 5:

By clicking "yes" the RTA will shut down and disconnect itself from the server. Simply delete the file originally downloaded and it will be totally removed from the machine.
