Fig 6: Custom Reports section of the main GUI
When custom reports are created, a small selection are listed in the custom reports section of the main GUI as shown above in fig 6.
To create a new custom report click the "show all/new" link at the bottom of the section. Also shown above in fig 6.
Fig 7: Custom Report in depth view
Once the "show all/new" link has been clicked, scroll to the bottom of the next screen to find the "custom Reports" section, as shown above in fig 7. Any custom reports that have already been set up will display here. To create a new report, enter the report name into the "create new custom report named" address box and click the Create button. This will bring up the screen shown below in fig 8:
Fig 8: Part one of creating a new custom report
The next page is in two sections, but on the same page. The first section is shown in fig 8 above.
The name given to the report is already entered, next thing needed is a description. Enter free text describing what the new report is going to report.
Choose the test this template will be based on will allow the custom report to just show data that has come from a custom test. For example, if a custom test has been set up to just do speed and VoIP tests, and is named speedvoip, then choosing speedvoip from the drop down menu will mean that the data in this custom report will only come from that custom test, and no other tests that are performed on that server.
Specify search criteria for information stored for every test:
You can specify the template to only contain data from any of the fields below. Wildcard value are accepted, for example set IP to '216.*' to filter all traces from IP's starting with 216. Leave these fields blank if you don't want to screen based on any of this data.
Note: For consolidated data this information is lost
Advanced Search Options:
You can use boolean logic within this template using any of the values stored for the selected test. If no test is selected all fields are available.
The second part of creating a report template is shown below in fig 9:
Fig 9: Part 2 of creating a new custom report
The first thing to note is that if a custom test has been chosen in part one, that only does speed and voip testing, then only the data from bandwidth speed plugin and data from the voice-over-IP plugin will be shown.
Simply check the plugins in the list that you want to include in the custom report. When an option has been checked a "show options" link will appear next to it where more options can be chosen. For example even though bandwidth speed plugin has been checked you can opt to only show download data instead of both upload and download data. See the example in fig 10 below:
Fig 10: Speedtest options example
By unchecking Upload speed, Upload test, QOS and RTT the custom report will only show download speed and download test.
When all the options have been set to your preference then click the save template button.
By doing this, MyConnection Server will add the new custom test to the list of custom tests shown in fig 7 above.
To run the newly created test simply click one of the run options:
Run: all last hour | all last day | last day by hour | last 30 days by day | custom...
The data will display the same way as it did for the standard reports, as shown in fig 3 and fig 4.
