Publishing an HTML 5 Test - Step 2 Help

How Java <applet> tags appear

When a user publishes a test using Java the <applet> tags will look something like below.

<applet MAYSCRIPT name="myspeed" code="myspeedserver/applet/myspeed.class" codebase="" archive="/myspeed/myspeed_s_8.jar,/myspeed/plugins_s_8.jar" width="600" height="400">
<param name="permissions" value="all-permissions">
<param name="config" value="voiptest">
<param name="testspecid" value="129">
Java is required to view this applet
</applet>

In Step 2 we ask that the applet tags be put into a variable.

It's vital that all line breaks be removed or the variable won't be valid.

What does no line breaks look like?

<applet MAYSCRIPT name="myspeed" code="myspeedserver/applet/myspeed.class" codebase="" archive="/myspeed/myspeed_s_8.jar,/myspeed/plugins_s_8.jar" width="600" height="400"><param name="permissions" value="all-permissions"><param name="config" value="voiptest"><param name="testspecid" value="129">Java is required to view this applet</applet>

Once line breaks have been removed, which turns the applet tags into one long string, the variable will be valid.

Can the <applet> tags thinned down further?

Yes. As there is no longer a need for Java anything Java related can be removed.

For example the permissions parameter along with the archive and code parameters. An example of a thinned down version is below.

<applet name="myspeed" codebase="" width="600" height="400"><param name="config" value="voiptest"><param name="testspecid" value="129"></applet>

That being said this is not a neccessity.

How the <applet> tags should look once converted to a variable

This example shows the thinned down version.

<!-- Begin MyConnection Server HTML applet -->

<script>
var m_applet_params = '<applet name="myspeed" width="600" height="400" codebase=""><param name="config" value="default"><param name="speed.dialview" value="no"><param name="testspecid" value="-1"></applet>';</script>

<!-- End MyConnection Server HTML applet -->
