Overview:

MCS remote agents deliver a seamless platform neutral architecture which supports delivering remote agents on Windows, Linux, Access Series and MAC workstations (or servers). This can be easily extended to wireless, 3G and 4G platforms using the MCS NetQCheck solution.

The MCS remote agent architecture adopts a strict security model that allows the remote agents to work in public and private domains including NAT environments, VPN connections etc.

Benefits include:

Reduced testing burden on remote customer
Resolving consumer connection problems requires involving customer resources in the testing process. Such an approach quickly becomes a burden to the customer and results in two problems, first the testing process is curtailed to minimise the burden on the customer or second the testing is not conducted correctly by the customer or the results are misinterpreted. Both these issues negate the usefulness of the test to the resolution process.

Proactive support of critical connections
Resolving important corporate connections such remote offices needs a testing methodology that is proactive not reactive. Understanding the change in baseline performance characteristics of a connection delivers vital early warnings that allow connection problems to be pre-empted and resolved before critical failures impact the business.

Reduced support costs
Utilising remote distributed support groups including significant work@home strategies allows companies to deliver a cost effective support strategy on a global scale.

Reduced time to resolution and improves the customer experience
Testing over time utilising minimum support resources improves data collection and ultimately reduces the time needed to achieve problem resolution, especially for intermittent problems.

The MyConnection Server (MCS) automated testing framework deliver a solution to manage connection quality for important permanent connections such as a remote office as well as consumer connections.

Automated testing allows both centralised and distributed support groups to define and manage the testing process remotely from where the testing is required using a simple browser interface. The testing process is deployed using MCS remote agents. Remote agents are able to conduct a comprehensive series of tests that can accommodate all test and monitoring modules supported by MCS. In addition MCS remote agents can test multiple connections in a single test definition (termed a work order). This approach allows the testing process to triangulate important connection to isolate the source of the problem.

Automated testing is dynamic and can be changed even after the testing process has started. This allows support engineers to adapt the testing process in real-time to get more useful results from the test process.
