Manage and solve remote connection problems

Manage & solve remote connection problems

Identifying the cause of remote network problems is time consuming and costly. Whether trying to resolve a connection problem for an existing customer or prequalifying a new customer for business growth, ensuring connections perform and identifying the cause, when there is a problem, is crucial to reducing support costs and growing a satisfied customer base.

MyConnection Server is an application designed specifically to help organizations measure network quality, identify and resolve last mile problems quickly without being intrusive to the customer. MyConnection Server can help your organization to:

  • Improve the overall quality of experience for customers
  • Proactively and quickly resolve customer problems through automated processes
  • Maintain high availability of application services such as DNS, SIP, FTP
  • Maintain high application acceptance through robust and consistent prequalification
  • Improve network reliability, resolve routing, peering point and lost data problems
  • Improve customer acceptance of problems that originate in the customer network and last mile
  • Deliver non–intrusive service, reduce or eliminate customer involvement in problem resolution

  • End-User Initiated Browser-based Connection Testing
Provides end–users a quick and easy means to test their connection to your MCS server, results are displayed to the end–user and logged to the MCS database for review by support technicians.

Browser tests are performed via a Java applet which can be served from the MCS built-in web engine, or a third party web engine such as Apache or IIS. This solution provides an ideal foundation for a self-help portal strategy. Try the MySpeed online speed test, MyVoIP online VoIP quality test.

  • Server-side Database with Browser Access
All test results -- from browser testing, Remote Agent testing or the AccessCT device -- are captured to the MCS database, delivering a comprehensive profile to enable a fast resolution to high impact customer problems. Even results from a test performed from a Remote Agent to a remote Satellite Server are seamlessly written to the MCS database.

  • Database consolidation, Archive servers NEW!
Automatically store test results from 2 or more MCS applications to a single MCS database to consolidate results from multiple servers, and provide distributed reporting and support of secure DMZ deployments.
  • Web Deployment Model Delivers Fast ROI
The ability to remotely manage connection testing processes avoids costly truck rolls and delivers an ‘access anywhere use everywhere’ cost effective solution for global companies supporting enterprise networks.

  • Analysis Tool Kit NEW!
Get quick access to connection results over extended periods of time, easily summarize data, plot multiple connection test metrics for trend and correlation analysis, see detail data for any time sample.

  • Satellite Servers Enable Connection Testing between Remote Locations
Satellite Servers significantly extend the Automated Network Testing capabilities by delivering an effective end-to-end network testing solution anywhere within the enterprise without the cost of establishing and maintaining full server testing solutions. Satellite Servers act as target testing servers for Remote Test Agents, providing a quick and easy means to perform on-going or ad-hoc testing from one remote location to another remote location, fully managed from the MCS management console with test results immediately visible to the MCS Support Technician via browser-based reports.

Network technicians can use Satellite Servers to establish additional connection testing points at the application edge to accurately test actual application network paths.

  • Plug-in Architecture
The MCS framework architecture enables you to mix and match network analysis tools and services to fit your environment, and provides the flexibility to easily modify and add components as your business needs grow.

  • Automation Enables Connection Testing over Extended Periods
A single connection test provides a limited picture of connection performance, many factors affecting connectivity are only visible when viewing results of tests performed at regular intervals over several days or longer. MCS Remote Agents and AccessCT devices automate the testing process and perform ongoing connection tests at regular intervals.

Long-term views of data help identify performance patterns that quickly isolate last mile congestion or packet shaping interference. For more information see our white paper, Solving Last Mile Speed Problems --Traffic Congestion vs. Traffic Control.

  • AlertAdvisor
AlertAdvisor provides instant notification of connections that violate critical application thresholds. Set threshold values on key performance metrics, receive an email whenever a connection performs below critical application service levels.
  • SQL Database API
Easily create SQL profiles to automatically capture MCS test results to an external MySQL or SQL Server database.

  • Mirror Servers NEW!
Enable automatic file synchronization of multiple MCS servers for enterprise reliability to combat hardware and software failures.
  • Customizable Display Enables Self-Branded Connection Testing Portals
The MCS browser-based connection tests are performed via Java applets, which can be easily incorporated into your own web pages with your messaging and branding. In addition, many display options can be customized and combined with JavaScript to to provide different views and behaviors such as the options below.
  • Embed the MCS applet in your own web page
  • Change the MCS applet display text to another language
  • Perform an action (dynamically change the web page, redirect to a new URL, etc.) based on connection test results
  • Query the end-user to enter a name or other text string that will be logged with their test results
  • Provide a selection of multiple server locations
